Mothercare recalls 75 baby bouncer after ten-week-old baby is left with a DENT in his skull after

A NEW mum had to rush her ten-week-old son to hospital after he slipped through a Mothercare baby bouncer and hit his head on the floor.

The company has since recalled the particular batch of swings, which they say could be dangerous if "assembled incorrectly".

'Disgusted' mum Kelsa Hutson, 21, from Hull, was sat behind her infant boy, River Bennet, when she saw the bouncer collapse and cause the tot to fall through and dent his head on the laminate floor.

River was immediately taken to hospital, where doctors said the dent in his head will stay with him for a couple of years.

Mothercare have recalled the product, which usually costs about £75 online, and acknowledged the safety concerns to babies if it's not correctly put together.

Miss Hudson said: "River was in his Mothercare bouncer, I was sat behind him watching TV and all of a sudden he literally just fell through it, hitting his head extremely hard on my laminate flooring. He was screaming.

"I rang 999 straight away. He did fall asleep for around 10 minutes and we were unable to wake him.

"The ambulance arrived and we went to Hull Royal where we were told he was thankfully okay, but the huge dent in the back of his head will go when his head reshapes at around one to two years of age.

"It was all absolutely terrifying."

The young mum said Mothercare have apologised for what happened to her son and offered her a refund for the swing. She is pleased the company have recalled the product.

A spokeswoman for Mothercare said: "At Mothercare, safety is of paramount importance; we react quickly and efficiently to issues involving our products.

"We are undertaking a voluntary recall of the ‘loved so much’ bouncers, with a batch date of 12/2015 onwards and a barcode ending in 843611-3, due to a risk of injury when using a bouncer that has been assembled incorrectly.

"This action has been taken to ensure the safety and well-being of our customers and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause."
